Although the People interview never went to print, introductions were made and a partnership was born.

Candles and Christmas Memories

It is the Monday before Christmas! What candle are you burning? I ask our For Every Body family this because many of us are particular about the "timing" of the scents we burn.

I talked to one long-time customer who said she alternates burning her sugar cookie, gingerbread and holly candles before Christmas, she then burns her Pine candle and cinnamon on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and then burns Pumpkin through to the New Year and then she switches to chocolate-flavored candles to help her live through her dieting for New Years! She says if she can smell it she doesn't have to eat it. As the years rolls on she switches to Pear as she get closer to spring!

I like to think that our For Every Body candles play a warm-scented role in people's homes. The tone of the season in a home being framed by the scents around you.

Scents remind me of memories. My favorite Christmas treats are chocolate chip cookies and caramel turtles. I burn our candles and I think of my kids wearing fuzzy pajamas with feet. I think of stocking-stuffers that include lip gloss, life savers and shampoo! I miss those years but the memories always come back as soon as I light the flame! Some of our kids won't be home with us for Christmas this year, but I will be thinking of them when I light the candles that carry the scents I love the most.

Women in Technology Have Big Hearts

I received this great email from Kim Kim Chiu, Assistant Director of Career & Technical Education at Utah Valley University! They asked for a donation of 30 bottles of our yummy smelling For Every Body lotion and candles for their gift bags for young mothers and we are only too happy to help because they are doing some great things for the community. You may read this, like I did, and want to help too!

The holidays can be tough for people at any time but if you are a struggling young mother with a baby to care for the world can sometimes be a pretty cold place. As a mom and grandmother and the owner of For Every Body and For Every Home, I applaude the efforts the Women in Technology Organization is making! Good for them! And, good for you if you can share a little Christmas Cheer to help their project!

Women in Technology Christmas Project

On Friday, December 11, 2009, UVU’s Women in Technology student organization and UVU staff members will be spreading some Christmas cheer at the Legacy High School in Springville. The Legacy program helps young mothers graduate from High School in a supportive environment and provides daycare services within the facility. We will be providing lunch for the students and will distribute presents for the mothers and their babies. In addition to these presents, we will help out with much needed formula and diapers for the high school to use in the nursery.

This is the second year that the UVU Women in Technology has helped with donations for the Legacy High School. Our goal is not only to help out with monetary necessities but expose the girls to opportunities to improve their situation. We emphasize the importance of post-secondary education and provide information on different programs that can help them should they decide to go to college.
Many of these girls think college is beyond their reach, so we start talking about the one and two-year programs which is easier for them to envision. It is our hope that we can inspire them to move forward and become self-sufficient with the right kind of training.

Home, Candles, & Health For Every Body!

Ogden Nash the US poet said, "A family is a unit composed not only of children but of men, women, an occasional animal, and the common cold."

This week at For Every Body we have had our run in with a little more than the common cold. It seems like everyone everywhere knows someone who has the flu, or an illness that requires a DR visit and some rest at home. It seems Home is not only where our heart is but home is the place we go to recover!

A fan of For Every Body candles mentioned that as soon as she started aching and knew she was in for a bout with the flu she wanted to go home, light her For Every Body sugar cookie candle, and crawl into bed until she felt better. "It's better for you than eating comfort food and when home smells good I feel better!"

As May Angelou said, "The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned."

It seems sometimes the best way to restore our health from whatever ails us is to go home and recover. Welcome to December! Pass the Flame!

I love December because I love what I do! One of the months that my For Every Body candles capture well is December. Aside from the scents that make a house smell like Christmas in every room -- pine, pumpkin spice, apple cider, sugar cookies, pecan pie, and the list goes on -- candles have a significance that goes especially well with the designated month of charitable giving that is December.

A quote by James Keller, author of You Can Change the World, "A Candle loses nothing by lighting another candle" emulates the idea of giving, serving, helping others doesn't distinguish light but shares it. I have this friend who has been buying For Every Body candles for her neighbors and her own home for Christmas every year. It is her tradition. She says she has 20 foot ceilings and burns a candle on each end of the house to fill it with the scents of Christmas. On one day she puts on pumpkin cheesecake and on another pine, yet every day her family is welcomed home to the scent of Christmas.

Her family also gets all their shopping done in December so they are free to serve others during December. Aside from dropping off presents of our yummy candles she also finds time to visit and ask what she and her family can do to help. She says her family has learned to pass the flame of love for the holidays. I like the idea that my For Every Body family has a part in lighting the flame of love for others. How to Get the Most out of your FEB Candle.

To enjoy our candles and safe burning: trim the wick before each burning to about 1/4 inch in length (nail clippers work great for this). Remove excess wick and any foreign matter. Place the candle on a heat resistant, dry surface. Do not pick up or touch candle during or shortly after burning. Never burn a candle on or near anything that can catch on fire. Make sure the wick is centered in the candle. Do not burn the candle for more than 3 hours at a time. Keep burning candle within sight. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Discontinue use of a candle when 1/4 inch of the wax remains. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Our fragrant candles are lead free and made with custom wax for your enjoyment.

Things are off to a running start here at For Every Body in 2009. Our business is changing every day and exciting things are on the horizion here. Our home party division is approaching its second anniversary and we have now got hundreds of consultants all across the country. A new catalog with new products is about to be released in the next week or so. We are growing and changing so fast, we have to be on top of our game to keep up with everything.

One of the most exciting things happening right now is our office remodel. For the past week or so, everyone has been cleaning up their offices, moving around and getting ready for some big changes. We've moved our main reception desk, changed conference rooms, created a new beautiful entry and are in the process of painting. We'll launch our new company branding and image with our new office, hopefully very soon. These are exciting times!

For Every Body is always working hard to innovate itself and come up with new ideas to keep employees happy and become a better place to work.

For years, we've participated in the Waist Watchers at Work program. The company has paid half of the employee's costs to enroll in the 12-week program. Lots of our employees have been really successful in losing weight and starting and maintaining a more healthy lifestyle.

When our latest session wrapped up last summer, many people wanted to keep going with the Weight Watchers program on their own. So, they came up with "Waist Watchers."

Basically, there are about 25 members of the group who cook once every five weeks. They try to stick to low fat, high fiber, healthy meals. They save money on lunches since it costs on average about $1.50 a day to eat, they save on gas because they’re not driving out for food, and they eat better than when they are eating fast food. Some people didn't eat out before, but they prefer it because they don't have to pack a lunch, and they get something different everyday.

We think this is a pretty revolutionary idea! Think about all the waste that is eliminated when 25 people eat in for lunch on reusable dishes, rather than driving out and grabbing a bag of fast food. Think how much more healthy a pita sandwich is than a cheeseburger and fries. Plus, everyone is having a lot of fun trying out new recipes and it has really brought the employees together.

So, if you're in need of a way to save in this down economy, maybe you can be like us and look to your corporate lunch program. It's a great place to start...

A Utah Valley start-up is the focus of the premiere issue of Celebrating Women, a new specialized national publication designed to motivate and inspire individuals interested in supplementing their income and improving their lives.

The company’s explosive growth and dynamic leadership attracted the editorial board at Celebrating Women. The two companies teamed up for the first issue which appeared on shelves nationwide Nov. 1.

Earlier this week, our For Every Scrapbook stores hosted the David Archuleta Fan book Extravaganza in both Lindon and Draper. It was a ton of fun! American Idol fans (some of them are in the photo) came out to create very cute pages for their new favorite singer! I was at the Draper store on Tuesday and had a lot of fun interacting with these kids and finding out why they are so crazy for David! I was very impressed with their creativity and their scrapbooking skills. Just that day, fans probably created more than 60 pages! It was a blast and even though he didn't win, we sure know he'll be a great success thanks to enthusiastic fans like these. Thanks everyone for coming out and supporting us!

Fans and well-wishers hoping to send a personal message to American Idol finalist David Archuleta will get a chance to do so Tuesday and Wednesday at scrapbook stores in Salt Lake and Utah counties.

For Every Scrapbook is hosting a “David Archuleta Fan book Extravaganza” at its Draper and Lindon locations on May 20 and 21. Archuleta fans are invited to create a free scrapbook page that will be included in a special fan book to be presented to Archuleta.

“We have known the Archuleta family for a few years,” said Nancy Call, manager of For Every Scrapbook’s Draper location. “It has been incredible to watch David’s success and we wanted to do something fun to support him.”

For Every Scrapbook will provide free scrapbook supplies and are asking fans to bring photos of themselves or special messages to include in the book. The event will take place at two For Every Scrapbook locations: 146 East 12300 South in Draper and 400 North Geneva Road in Lindon from 10 am – 6 pm both days.

Former Murray High School student David Archuleta, 17, will perform on Fox’s American Idol final on Tuesday night. Voting via telephone and text messaging begins immediately after Tuesday’s performance show, and the results will be announced during Wednesday night's broadcast.

Utah Family Focus of New National Breast Cancer Campaign

When Kellie May returned to work at North West Middle School last fall, she hoped the routine familiarity of her seventh grade health class would bring an end to the chaotic summer she endured.

After 13 years as an educator and as a mother of two sons with special needs, May has seen her fair share of disorder. But after classes let out last spring, 35-year-old May began an aggressive chemotherapy regiment and underwent several surgeries to treat breast cancer.

Her return to the classroom was a momentous personal victory, and one that has helped a community of other breast cancer survivors find strength to endure similar diagnoses. On the eve of her last chemotherapy treatment, May shared her story on www.ithinkpink.org, an online community started by a local candle company to bring women like May together.

Within days, May’s story was read by dozens of women and after hearing of her personal and family challenges, Lindon-based For Every Body decided to help. The company presented her with $10,000 to offset the family’s mounting medical bills, as well as items and services from dozens of other local Utah businesses eager to assist in any way they could.

This spring, For Every Body will expand the campaign it started last year. This time around, May and her husband Clint, and their sons Porter, 8, and Parker, 1, will be featured on a new website, and as part of a national advertising campaign and local fundraising auction aimed to bring an increased level of breast cancer awareness to Utah communities.

“We want women to be educated, not scared,” May said. “I discovered a lump during a self-exam and it saved my life. If my story could potentially help another woman, I will tell it all day long.”

On May 8, For Every Body will launch a redesigned web page, blog and advertising campaign as a kick-off to its national search for stories. In addition to the stories of women facing breast cancer diagnoses today, the new community will also feature stories of survivors, and of families who have lost a loved one to the disease.

“After reading through the stories last fall, we were reminded there are many faces to breast cancer,” said Becky Lunceford Anderson, founder of For Every Body. “Some women fight and survive; others leave behind families who will forever honor their name.”

On Oct.1, For Every Body will honor Utah women involved in all aspects of breast cancer, from nurses who work in mammogram clinics, to young women, like the students in May’s health class, who need education about doing self exams. Kevin Sharp, a renowned country singer and cancer survivor, will headline the company’s charity event and auction and help raise funds for the campaign.

“We are thrilled to be associated with such a fabulous cause,” May said. “Sharing my own story has been therapeutic. Reading about other women has brought healing.”

The top revenue rankings are part of a three-part awards list called the UV50 compiled by Utah Valley BusinessQ. In addition to the top revenue companies list, the UV50 highlights Utah Valley’s 10 fastest growing companies, as well as 25 start-ups to watch.

“It is great to contribute to Utah Valley’s growing economy,” said Becky Lunceford Anderson, founder and chairman of For Every Body. “Business is exploding here and it’s an exciting atmosphere to be part of.”

New and Improved Atlanta Showroom

For the past seven years, For Every Body has had a permanent showroom at AmericasMart in Atlanta, Georgia. The purpose of the showroom is to have all of our products on display in one location. Twice each year, customers from around the world come to see our candles, find out what is new, and place orders.

In preparation for the 2008 show, we completely remodeled our showroom. We ripped out old carpet, painted the walls and ceiling, and brought in all new hutches, tables and signs. The result was a very impressive, modern showroom that attracted hundreds of customers to stop by and check out our new lines of candles.

Seven For Every Body representatives were in Atlanta last week. Everyone that passed by the new showroom commented how much they loved our new look. Some of the most popular lines at the show were Sniff Your Surroundings, AbsorbAll and Zenovation. Special thanks to Patty Hill for all her work redesigning the showroom and supervising the remodeling process.

Chocolate-Fudge Cookie Bites

POINTS® Value: 1

Servings: 48

Preparation Time: 12 min

Cooking Time: 8 min

Level of Difficulty: Easy

These delightful chocolate morsels start out crisp and soften upon standing. Get 'em while they're hot!

Ingredients
1 sprays cooking spray, or more if needed
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/4 cup margarine, softened
3/4 cup sugar
4 oz unsweetened applesauce
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp table salt
2 Tbsp powdered sugar

Instructions
Preheat oven to 375ºF. Coat two nonstick cookie sheets with cooking spray.
Place cocoa, margarine and sugar in a medium bowl; beat with an electric mixer. Add applesauce and vanilla; beat to blend. In another small bowl, stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Stir flour mixture into cocoa batter with a wooden spoon.
Shape batter into 48 marble-sized balls. Arrange balls 1 inch apart on cookie sheets. Bake until set, about 8 minutes. Remove from oven and allow cookies to stand for 1 minute. Remove to wire rack and cool; sprinkle with powdered sugar. (Note: Store extra cookies in freezer-safe containers or plastic bags to maintain their freshness.) Yields 1 cookie per serving.

We had some fun costumes. Joe, our CFO, decided to be a receptionist. We caught him in the act of answering phones. It looks like he's having fun!

Our first "Pink Our first Friday" was a success! Over 50 employees wore pink last Friday to support breast cancer awareness. Every Friday in October, employees plan to wear pink to show their support for breast cancer. Each employee received a cute little pink cupcake for wearing pink!

Our "Pink Fridays" are part of our Think Pink for Life project. The whole project is meant to raise awareness of breast cancer and help women who are currently fighting the disease.

They were originally used for light, but now many people use candles for their scent. The candle industry really lit up in the 1990's; people loved their warmth and inviting aroma. Because they are so common, sometimes we overlook simple steps that can increase your burning time and your safety.

Most candle lovers don't understand how important it is to burn a candle correctly. There are several things a person should do and should NOT do when burning a candle to get the most enjoyment from their candle. Below is a list of tips to help you get the most from your candle.

CANDLE CARE: Do's

Always trim the wick before lighting each candle to about 1/4 inch in length.
It is important to trim the wick before each lighting to prevent smoking or sooting. Most people who have problems with black soot on their ceilings or too much smoke coming from their candle, forgot to trim the wick first. This is very helpful to help make their candle more environmentally friendly. It also creates cleaner air for their families and friends.

Keep the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch each time the candle is relit to reduce possibility of smoking or sooting. Although the wick was trimmed when the candle lover began using the candle, it is important to trim the wick to 1/4 inch every time the candle is used. This will also keep the candle burning correctly.

Remove all candle toppings, wick trimmings, matches or anything else from wax pool before lighting.

Most of For Every Body's candles have toppings, which are small items on the top of the candle that match the candle. For example, our Gardener Collection has a small rake, shovel, and sand on top. These toppings are cute and decorative, but must be removed before lighting the candle. All other material must also be removed to help the candle burn correctly.

Keep the wick centered. Most people light a candle no matter where the wick is in each candle. It is very important that the wick is centered in each candle to help it burn evenly and cleanly the entire time it is burning.

If flame smokes, extinguish and trim wick before relighting. Soy based candles usually do not smoke if the wick is trimmed, but if there is a problem with smoking, extinguish the candle and trim the wick right away before relighting.

CANDLE CARE: Dont's

Do not burn the candle if the wick is not centered.
As mentioned above, it is important to keep the wick centered to help the candle burn evenly and cleanly.

Do not allow the flame to touch the side of the jar.
If the wick is centered, this shouldn't be a problem. If the flame touches the side of the jar, it will cause the jar to turn black. It does not make the candle look very nice when this happens.

Do not burn the candle more than 2-3 hours at a time.

Candles can burn for hours, but it doesn't mean each candle should burn all day at one time! It is important to blow the candle out and trim the wick every two to three hours. This will help the candle burn more evenly and cleanly. It will also help the candle from sooting or smoking. The candle can be relit right away after the wick is trimmed, but it must be extinguished every two to three hours.

Don't use your candle when 1/4 inch of wax remains to prevent possible heat damage to the counter/surface or cracking or breaking of the jar.

Watch the candle when it is close to the end. It should not be used if there is 1/4 inch of wax or less. This will help prevent unwanted damages to the jar or the surface the candle is burned.

Avoid glass-to-glass contact when removing or replacing the lid.

Be careful when replacing or removing the lid. The candle is very hot after it has been burned. Avoid glass-to-glass contact.

Do not use candle if the jar is cracked, chipped or scratched.
If there is any problem with the jar do NOT use it. If you burn a candle when the jar is cracked, chipped or scratched it will be a hazard for you or your family. Be very careful with the broken jar and throw it away as soon as possible.

Do not pick up or touch during or shortly after burning
The candle is very hot after it has been burned. Leave it on the surface it was burning for a while to let it cool before picking it up again.

Keep burning candle within sight at all times.
Be in the room with your candle at all times. Never leave the room or your house while burning a candle. Also never leave children or pets in the room alone with a candle burning. This could also cause potential problems.

A New For Every Scrapbook in Draper

On Saturday we held the Grand Opening celebration for our new For Every Scrapbook store in Draper. The store is adjacent to our existing candle outlet on 12300 South. We also added a home decor section inside the candle store. KOSY 106.5 broadcasted live for the Grand Opening and the Draper Chamber of Commerce came to cut the big red ribbon and officially open the store.

We are so excited to have all three For Every Body stores together in Draper and Lindon! When you visit the new store you will see our decor for Halloween and Christmas, tons of great candle lines, and isles and isles of scrapbook page packets and supplies. We have been receiving stories since June. We have been receiving more lately. It is difficult to read them without feeling emotional. I wish we could help each person who submits one. Each person has their own unique story with their individual challenges.

We are excited for our first annual "Evening in Pink." It will be great to be able to help one woman with breast cancer and give her $10,000. We have also received donations from 34 businesses who are generously donating their products and services. We are grateful for them!

Habitat for Humanity

Anita and Dawn from our graphics department volunteered with Habitat for Humanity yesterday. They worked on a house in Provo and even got Power Tool Certified! They climbed up scaffolding and used nail guns to put up siding. It was a lot of fun! Next month will be the last time we volunteer with Habitat, and then we'll be starting up with another organization.

This is good advice. I've tried to burn a candle when the wick isn't centered, and it doesn't work very well. The wax doesn't burn evenly, and the candle gets messy.

We received the Health Care Heros Award from Utah Business Magazine. We will receive the award in September. They selected us for this award because of our Biggest Loser Contest! Utah Business Magazine was impressed with our program. Their photographer came this week to take a picture of some of the participants with our founder and CEO.

This was the second year we've done the Biggest Loser Contest. This year it lasted three months for the guys and four months for the girls. We had a tie with the guys and one winner for the girls. The employee who lost the most in percentage weight loss was the winner. It was fun!

Think Pink is our breast cancer campaign. I've written about it a few times, but now we have the official name. The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness of breast cancer and help one woman with the illness. We chose "Think Pink" because it sums up what we're trying to do.

We have received many stories. The last day to submit a story is Oct. 20. We will select one woman from those stories by the end of October. We are also starting a blog for our Think Pink campaign. We will post stories on the blog daily so you can read about these amazing women.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Becky Anderson, our founder, feels strongly about supporting breast cancer. In 1999, she created a candle called, "Hope for a Cure" to create awareness of breast cancer. It is sold in several different retail locations throughout the United States. Over 1,500 candles have been donated to local hospitals each year since 2001 to raise awareness of breast cancer. Each woman who receives a mammogram in October receives a free candle.

This year we are expanding our support. We are donating candles with a total value of $18,000 to local hospitals, and giving aid to one woman in the United States with breast cancer. We plan to give this woman up to $10,000 to help her in areas such as day care, housekeeping, and paying medical bills. We will also highlight this woman on our website for one year and follow her progress. Women can submit their stories to http://www.foreverybody.com/ until Oct. 20. One woman will be selected at the end of October.

The Draper Days Carnival was a Success!

We had a great time at the Draper Days Carnival last night! Erin, Nancy and I had fun painting faces and helping children go fish. We had a lot of great prizes. We also gave away candles to the parents. Most parents hadn't heard about our store before. They loved the candles and wanted to come visit us at our store. It was a great way to promote our Draper Outlet! We were busy all night helping kids or talking to their parents.

Tonight is the carnival at Draper Days. We are having face painting and fishing for the children and we are giving away candles to parents. Last year our booth was busy the whole night. We hope this year will be as busy. It is from 5:30 to 8:30.

Erin and I spray painted a large piece of card board blue and cut out colorful fish to put in the pond. We bought some great candy and prizes. It will be fun and a great way to promote our Draper Candle Outlet store at 416 E. 12300 S. in Draper!

Today there is a carnival in Draper at Draper Days. We are having a booth there. We have a fishing game and face painting for the children, and some small candles to give to the parents. The event was a success last year. Our booth was busy the whole night! We hope it will be as great this year. It is from 5:30 to 8:30.

The National Cancer Institute estimates that a woman in the United States has a one in eight chance of developing invasive breast cancer during her lifetime. This risk was about one in 11 in 1975.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women in the United States and worldwide (excluding skin cancer). In 2007, it is estimated that 240,510 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed among women in the United States: 178,480 invasive breast cancers and 62,030 cases of in situ breast cancer (of which, 85% will be ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS)).

Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death for women in the U.S, after lung cancer. Approximately 40,460 women in the U.S. will die from the disease in 2007. Breast cancer is the leading cause of cancer death for U.S. women between the ages of 20 and 59, and the leading cause of cancer death for women worldwide.

Mammography screening does not prevent or cure breast cancer. However, it may detect the disease before symptoms occur.

All women are at risk for breast cancer. About 90-95% of women who develop breast cancer do not have a family history of the disease.

Factors that decrease a woman's risk of breast cancer include breast-feeding and physical activity (exercise).

We had a great time at Habitat for Humanity today! We helped remodel this house. We put in doors, fixed a window, and put up dry wall. It was fun. We all had a great time! We even got little snacks and water too. This was our third time helping at Habitat.

What's more American than apple pie! Our apple pie home baked soy based candle is one of my favorites. It smells just like my mom's freshly baked apple pie that came straight from the oven. I love it!

Mother Surpasses All Expectations

It was another typical day for Becky Anderson. Dishwashers and dryers were running, kids were screaming, and tractors were clanking over the fields.

Becky was a busy mother of nine children, and her husband was one of the largest farmers in the state of Utah. Her house was noisy to say the least. They were working around the clock harvesting, picking, and running the packing shed. It got to the point where it wasn’t fun anymore. They decided to sell part of their farm and down size.

When they sold their farm, Becky had a lot of time on her hands. She was so used to doing the books for the farm, juggling her kids’ schedules and running everywhere to keep their ship afloat. When they sold the farm, she was bored.

Tractors aren’t for Girls

One day, she came home and saw her twelve-year-old daughter on a tractor.

“I about hit the roof,” she said. “It was okay to have the boys on tractors, but not girls! I didn’t think so. I told my husband I was not putting our girls on tractors.”

Becky’s husband explained, “Well, these girls need to learn the value of the dollar and hard work.”

Becky thought about it, and decided she was going to find another way to teach her daughters the value of hard work. She marched over to the University Mall in Orem and told the leasing director she wanted to open a store. He asked her what type of store, and she told him she wanted to open a bath shop. The man laughed at her. She looked at him and told him she was serious.

The Beginning of For Every Body

In 1995, there weren’t any bath shops in Utah County. Becky had seen one in California, and wanted to open a shop in Utah.

When Becky told her husband, he exclaimed, “I am not signing anything with you. When you go down, you’re not taking me with you!”

Becky decided to sign the lease and go for it. In the meantime, she was trying to decide what she should sell in her store.

“If I hadn’t been this crazy, I wouldn’t be where I am today,” Becky said. “I really went out on a limb. I think raising nine kids gives you a little bit of courage you wouldn’t have, because you’re in there fighting with teachers, coaches and the whole bit.”

Becky flew to Denver to find some bath products at one of the merchandise marts there. She bought anything she could find to sell in her store.

She had a background in chemistry because she wanted to attend medical school. Instead, she dropped out and got married young. Her chemistry background helped her produce lotions and body washes in her home. Her daughters helped her. Every day they made new product and sold them at the mall. They sold out every day.

The rest of the story is history. For Every Body went national in 1997 and international in 2006 selling soy based candles, air fresheners, lotions, body washes and other fragranced products. Becky hasn’t lost her motivation and it has been almost 12 years since she launched in November 1995. She has gone over several bumps and rocks along the path, but she surpassed all expectations of what her friends and family thought the company would be.

“It’s okay to dream big, but without action it’s not going to happen,” Becky said. “Productivity is the deliberate, strategic investment of your time, your talents, your intelligence, your energy, your resources, your opportunities in a manner calculated to move you measurably closer to meaningful goals.”

Recognitions

Becky received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2006 and was also listed with the “30 Women to Watch” in Utah Business Magazine in 2006. She has been asked to speak at women’s groups and universities in Utah.

Community Involvement

For Every Body is actively involved in the community. They donate over 1,600 breast cancer awareness candles to local hospitals each October to raise awareness of breast cancer locally. They also donate to local high school sports teams and give away gift baskets to local businesses. In 2005 and 2007 For Every Body also contributed to the Pray 4 Tori campaign to raise money for 15-year-old Tori Schmanski who suffered from a traumatic brain injury from a tragic car accident in June 2005. Candles were made especially for Tori to help raise funds to pay for her medical bills.

Every day we produce thousands of candles. Every time I come to work, there is a different fragrance being poured. When I leave work, people say I smell like a candle! I like most fragrances, but some are too strong like chewy cherry and peppermint. Most employees close their office doors when those scents are being poured because the fragrances are too strong. :)

We have the capacity to make 100,000 candles a day. This is a picture of our production area. It is always full of boxes, supplies and employees. We have several lines going at once to keep the production moving. We are entering our busiest time of the year when we are getting ready to ship for Christmas.

Twins!

Fridays are nice because we can wear jeans and dress casually. Today was no exception. Most employees are wearing jeans and their most comfortable shirts.

You know the saying, "Great minds think alike?" Well, this happened today. LaRen and Ashley in our sales and marketing department had the same idea of what to wear. They both wore cute black and white striped shirts and jeans. With their blond hair, they could be twins!

Richard and Noah in our IT department also had the same idea to wear a pink shirt with horizontal stripes. They said they didn't plan it, and they did not want a picture. :)

So it looks like we have a lot of "great minds that think alike" here!
